Say It Ain’t Faux

January 17th, 2007 // 4 Comments

Jay-Z may be in trouble. The Humane Society has found traces of dog fur in his supposedly “faux” fur Hunter Jacket. The jacket has now been taken down from the web store selling his Rocawear line. No comments have been made by Jay-Z’s reps as of yet, but if I were to hazard a guess, I would like to think this was all an unfortunate accident and am personally hoping that he was unaware of the existence real fur in his jackets. How one accidentally gets real fur into one’s line of faux fur jackets is a mystery to me, but since one of my New Year’s resolutions involved a stronger commitment to optimism in my blog posts, here goes nothing.

You may recall Diddy’s recent faux fur no-no in which the same raccoon dog fur was being used in his collection that caused PETA and the animal lovers around the world to trigger a media backlash with videos of the animals being skinned alive.

No puns and no snark. It is just terrible that the animals are being treated like disposable cameras.

Any one can google chinese dog fur and find many videos showing dogs of all types waiting in line, scared to death, waiting to be skinned alive. I just saw one where 4 pure bred German Shepards were there. I have a Basenji, and I saw a basenji with a muzzle and his legs hog tied, in terrible condition, awaiting his fate. The Chinese are barbaric people, and as long as Americans keep buying fur, we are just as barbaric through our ignorance. Thank you for taking a stand on this!

Holly – While I don’t condone the skinning of dogs and such acts… you are a brave soul hating on a whole nation for acts a very small percentage of them commit.
