The Globe is reporting that Scott Baio was never really single during the filming of his soon-to-premiere VH1 reality dating series, “Scott Baio is 45…and Single.” According to the publication, Baio was involved in a romantic relationship that has spanned over two years with Renee Sloan, former stunt double for Pamela Anderson on Baywatch. The series focuses on the foibles of Scott attempting to date as a forty-something actor who has never made it to the altar, according to Baio.

“This isn’t Scott Baio getting a colonoscopy. It’s about a guy trying to get his life together, trying to figure out why he’s never been married.”

However, it seems that the whole thing was a farce, reveals an inside source to the Globe.

“Scott’s really crazy about her… Scott and Renee have been talking about starting a family.”

You sneaky little Bob Loblaw, you. But really, it actually doesn’t bother me too much. I guess working behind-the-scenes as a lowly production assistant on various “reality” productions pretty quickly shattered any disillusions I had that anything going on in front of the cameras is actually real. And honestly, it just comes down to a very deep philosophical question about reality television and how much of it is actually steeped in reality (which I liken to the whole “Chicken vs. the Egg” dilemma):

Since New York’s breasts are fake, is she any less fun to watch acting the fool on television? Ponder that, grasshoppers.
