If Mariah Carey seemed a bit loopy during her acceptance speech for the Breakthrough actress award at the Palm Springs Film Festival, you can blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol. Sean Penn sure did.

During Mimi’s speech, she admitted that she was a bit tipsy and when Sean Penn took to the stage after she’d scooted away, he said into the mic, “I, unlike the prior speaker, will do this speech completely sober.” Oh hush up, Sean. Like you don’t misbehave.

Several sources tell Hollywood Life that upon Mariah’s arrival at the Palm Springs Convention Center for the big event, “[Precious director] Lee Daniels was literally holding her up…She couldn’t walk straight and was slurring all her words. She eventually had to be escorted out of the event.”

Another snitch adds, “It was a little embarrassing – and then Sean Penn made fun of her, which made it so much worse.” But I wouldn’t worry about our girl. She’s pretty much incapable of getting embarrassed.
