Check it – Denise Richards and Richie Sambora broke up about two months ago. And I was just the other day writing about the fantastic pentangle of Denise/Richie/Heather Locklear/Charlie Sheen/David Spade. Now it’s all in smithereens. I did see a pic of Denise and Richie on the beach, and I couldn’t really put two and two together. She’s got a nice bod for a homewrecking tramp and he, uh, plays guitar really well in the opinion of several thousand suburban white girls between the ages of 25 and 35. Yep.

“Denise ended things but wanted to be there for him as a friend,” a source close to Richards tells PEOPLE.

A Sambora source calls the split “amicable.”

“They did break up about a month prior to Richie’s dad’s death,” says the source. “She came to the funeral to support him. He needs to focus on his daughter Ava and wishes Denise and her kids all the best.”

That was nice of her to go. Seriously, I thought she was completely conniving. She isn’t too tightly wrapped, though. She tends to hurl computer equipment off balconies if you piss her off. So don’t leave your iBook near her. Or your husband.
