At the premiere for 17 Again, actor Alex Meraz chatted with Access Hollywood about his gig as a member of the werewolf pack in New Moon. He said that working with director Chris Weitz has been “amazing,” and said the two were even turning into workout partners. “I have to work out before takes and he kind
of comes in, and he’ll grab two dumbbells and he tries working out
[with] his little frail body. I try to teach him techniques,” Meraz jokingly confessed.
The biggest challenge is turning out to be all his shirtless scenes. Alex explained, “It’s really cold in Vancouver and, you know, I have no shirt on. [And] sometimes, not [even] shoes! I think the real acting is coming in and trying to act like I’m warm.”
He’s lucky Tyra Banks wasn’t around when he was discussing the difficulties of working in frigid temperatures. She’d just regale him with stories about a photo shoot in Antarctica that had her naked, except for a dress and high heels made completely of ice. The only thing that kept her from freezing to death was the polar bears shooting flame throwers in her direction.
