To her credit, the actress was on stage at the time and struggling to stay in character while on the Broadway stage in her play, After Miss Julie, when the incident took place.
As Sienna explained to Letterman during her interview, “There was what I thought was a human being in the front row on the floor convulsing. I missed the announcement that it was a seeing-eye dog.”
The animal was experiencing an epileptic fit and eventually stopped moving, much to Sienna’s terror. “Then it went to sleep and I thought it had passed on. It was an older audience, after all. I was freaked out but stayed in character.” Few things are more disconcerting than having an audience member croak on you.
