Dental school is no laughing matter, ask Sofia Vergara, star of ABC’s new sitcom Modern Family. In a phone interview with People Magazine, Vergara provides a few fun facts about real life, her stint in dentistry and a Spanish speaking Al Bundy.

- The accent is real, not made for TV.
- Like her character on Modern Family, she was a teenage mom. Her son is currently a high school senior with plans for college next fall. She has already begun suffering from separation anxiety.
- She is OCD about dental hygiene and before becoming a TV host, she almost traded laughs for dentistry.
- Al Bundy spoke Spanish. Well at least to Vergara, who used to watch Married with Children dubbed in Spanish in Colombia. Ed O’Neil (Bundy) now plays her husband in Modern Family.
- She shares the same zip code as Shakira. Both hail from Barranquilla, Colombia. A possible guess spot? She would love for her friend to play her sister on the show.
