Starlets Embrace The Embryo Adoption Craze

August 24th, 2005 // 18 Comments

The baby craze is hitting Hollywood. This is perfect for those starlets who want the joys of motherhood without the actual child.

Lindsay Lohan has one. So does Meg Ryan. Jennifer Aniston is reportedly looking into getting one. And Brook Burns has three. What are these red hot celebrity accessories? Frozen embryos: portable fertilized egg cells that can be stored in a trendy Sub-Zero refrigeration unit or toted around town in a range of miniature carryalls.

This is definitely something that Britney Spears should have looked into.

  1. This is absolutely disturbing. I have no respect for any idiot that would want to carry the beginning of a human being on their necklace. An absolute lack of respect for life.

  2. Chelsea

Omigod, I’m sure the religious right is having a stroke right about now. That is really bizarre though!!

  3. Julie

This came from a website called “The Swift Report.” You know? Johnathan Swift??? “A Modest Proposal?????” Freshman English??? Irish babies???? ‘Member?

This isn’t true. It’s just satire.

  4. Chelsea

Well now don’t I feel like a moron.

  5. Nice pickup on the Swift reference Julie. There’s no way a high priced publicist would ever let there client do something like this. The fire-and brimstone crowd (read: Pat Robertson) would have a flippin’ field day. This is a definite hoax.

  6. Sophie

People really need to check their surcess before they start spreading this stuff around. When taken out of context, the irony is lost.

  7. jef

I dont quite get the thouhgt. Are those people “wearing” there own embryo’s or do they buy the whole package in a store.?

Anyway, this is another example that the worl is going to waste. Haven’t those people no ethics at all?

  8. Jinkies. I thought Lindsay was so wholesome.

  9. Brian

    Truly disgusting and disturbing.

  10. Michelle

Oh. My. Friggin. God. I am completely speechless. I can’t believe that people would think so little of human life that it has been reduced to a fashion accessory.

But, then again, no. Nevermind. I’m not even gonna go there.

  11. Goin with what Sophie said. This is something that probably should have just stayed on Swift where everyone knows it’s not true.

  12. Carolyn

Aside from the fact that this story is not scientifically possible, HELLO PEOPLE!!! Read before you reply!!! Plenty of people on here already said it was a joke, a satire…

Don’t believe everything you read or hear!

I’m actually scared that people would believe this…that is more frightening than anything else!

  13. Littles

It’s a joke people! You can’t just buy prepackaged embryos from an adoption agency. Especially from Nightlife, which is a Christian ADOPTION agency and not a invitro-fertilization clinic.

  14. anon

besides the obvious joke, embryos would be dead in a matter of seconds!

I have to say I thought this was pretty funny, but its even funnier to see the number of people who thought it was true!

  15. denise

    julie, julie, u so smart!

Americans are characteristically forthright. Satire is generally lost on us. Europeans make fun of us incessantly for our inability to NOT take everything at face value. The tendency people have to believe this sort of fake news story when it is posted out of context is the same tendency that leads people to believe that the novel The Bridges of Madison County was actually a true story, based on the fictional narrator’s foreword presenting the tale as a true one. I mean, people aren’t stupid for believing stuff like this at first glance; they’re just a little too gullible. Everyone reading this thread of comments should take this as a good example of why you CANNOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ.

  17. Trisha

I’m so glad this is satire…I was beginning to think that hollywood with everything at it’s fingertips was beginning to get a little too bored, and too weird. WOW :)

  18. Heather

If the frozen embryo concept didn’t strike you as untrue, at least you should’ve known that Tiffany’s would never sell such an ugly necklace!
