Maybe the outburst was do to the fact that Guttenberg has been an extremely vocal yellow-phallic-looking fruit opponent over the years, and was ashamed of being caught eating one?

Steve Guttenberg is a legend along with bubba smith, micael winslow, david graff, g w bailey and all the other members of police academy, and you can plainly see the man is just having a laugh
Yeah, you can tell he’s just having a little fun there. Steve’s always seemed like a nice guy, and despite him not being in much these days, I still love watching his stuff from the ’80s, like Short Circuit and Police Academy.
