An inside source is claiming that the reason for Mischa Barton‘s recent visit to the hospital is because the former star of The O.C. made an attempt on her life. The source also claims that her breakdown coincided with her being fired and rehired for her role on The Beautiful Life. Another snitch reveals, “She was being crazy that day [when she went to Cedars Sinai Medical Center].”

Mischa’s rep says any talk of suicide and/or firing is “absolutely false” and responded with a resounding “no comment” when pressed for the reason for Barton’s hospitalization.

Regardless of how she still has her job on the new CW series, Mischa appears to be ready to get back to work as model Sonja Stone. Shooting is supposed to start July 31 and Mischa has flown to New York City in preparation.

Let’s hope work will give her something to focus on.
