Justin Bieber stunned the American Music Awards and his mother in Los Angeles on Sunday night (18Nov12) when he was named Artist of the Year.
The Baby hitmaker had already claimed the night’s first trophy for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist and the Favorite Pop/Rock Album prize when his name was called as will.i.am presented the ceremony’s last category.
Dragging his reluctant mom Pattie Mallette up onstage with him, the pop superstar said, “This is my mom, she’s little but she’s beautiful… I wanna thank you for just always believing in me… This is amazing.”

The metallics were big this year, lead by Taylor Swift who wore a lacy beaded Zuhair Murad dress. Heidi Klum wore another gold lacy dress, although hers was much more racy with a slit up the side of her short dress.
Pink wore a metallic gown with a leather cut-out top and full skirt as she posed up with husband Carey Hart, while Hayden Panettiere went for short and shimmery. She attended the ceremony with boyfriend Scotty McKnight.
Then there was Ke$ha, who looked … normal.
The singer wore a pretty pink baby-doll crocheted mini dress and black sky high heeled shoes.
However, the most notable part of her appearance was her long platinum hair, styled in a Hollywood starlet fashion. Ke$ha kept her new look personalized by working an unusual ear full of golden insect earrings, which she drew attention to by pulling her hair back.
