When Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands announced she will abdicate the throne in favor of her son, Prince Willem-Alexander, few eyebrows were raised.
The more important matter was whether or not Queen Elizabeth, 86, would ever do the same. The answer is a simple “no,” but it’s a valid question, given Her Majesty’s age.
However, the Queen took her vows very seriously on June 2nd, 1953 and will remain sovereign until her very last breath.
Another bit of royals that caught our attention was the idea of Michael Middleton receiving a peerage title. Thought the Queen would be the only person able to sign off on such an idea, it’s not completely out of the question.
Find out why on this week’s episode of The Duchess Diary.
