Star of Billy Elliot, Jamie Bell, shows off his grown-up, shirtless physique in stills of the period piece, The Eagle of the Ninth. Set against the backdrop of the ancient Roman Empire, the film also stars Channing Tatum as Marcus, “a wounded Roman soldier living in Britain during the 2nd Century A. D.”
The title refers to Marcus’ journey to retrieve the Eagle emblem of the vanished Ninth Legion, lost under the command of his father a decade prior.
Basically, there will be lots of gruesome hand-to-hand combat scenes, swordplay and breastplates. If that doesn’t rev your engine, then I’m not sure what will. It’s pretty hot stuff.
