Tom Cruise Says That Scientology Cures Dyslexia

January 6th, 2009 // 15 Comments

Yes, but will it allow your child the proper medical diagnosis. Just wondering. Here’s Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes out on a “date” (note the quotes) for the paparazzi (let’s be real) at Nobu in Tribeca, NYC.

Tom told a Spanish magazine (you know he’s laid off this bullshit for the American audiences because everyone realized he was a loon) XL Semanal that his dyslexia, which he was diagnosed with at age 7, was cured by his worship of Xenu.

“I asked myself if I was normal or an idiot. I would try to concentrate but I felt anxiety, frustration, boredom.  When I graduated from high school in 1980 I was functionally illiterate. Nobody
gave me a solution and I wanted to know why the system had failed.
Finally, as an adult I learned to read perfectly through the method of
(Scientology founder) L. Ron Hubbard,” Cruise said. Even Katie’s zombie eyes are rolling. Unfortunately, being a zombie, they’re liable to roll out of her skull at this point. That’s ok – she’s keeping the economy afloat so we can afford someone to sweep them up.

Tom tried to sell this back in 2003 as well, and people with dyslexia got irritated with him because having a learning disability is tough enough without some wackjob telling them that worshipping volcano space gods could potentially cure them.

So basically, people that are dyslexic are either stupid or not trying hard enough to endear them and their wallets to Xenu? I hope he gets more flack than he did before for simply repeating these statements after the first time.

  2. Yoni

Wow, he kept his pledge to stop talking about Scientology for a whole three weeks. Good for him.

  3. Mark

Oh gee, what a surprise, a $cientologist lies!
Plus, he JUST said he’d stop talking about the cult, and now he’s back at it in order to try and combat the bad PR the recent tragedy has caused it.

Tom Cruise describes himself as having Dyslexia. I would say ADHD is more like it. Maybe before Cruise talks about his self diagnosed dyslexia, he should get evaluated by someone who actually knows what Dyslexia is. What is find sad is that with all his fame, Cruise could help so many people with Dyslexia and ADHD. People with Dyslexia learn best using multi-sensory programs like Orton-Gillingham. Once they learn to read, Cruise can push all the Scientology (B.S.) on them he wants.

Well, years and years ago Tom gave interviews where he said that he was a high school dropout….he said that he knew what he wanted in life and went after it with his mother’s permission. Then a couple of years ago he described himself in interviews as someone who “left before graduation”… implying that he had finished school but took off for the big city before actually walking across the stage and getting his diploma. Now he describes himself as a high school graduate. Unless he got his G.E.D., this is yet more crap from Tom. Who knows, maybe he will come out of the closet as a college graduate. Can’t wait.

He makes me want to puke, the only reason he is rehashing this stupid story now is because Scientology is coming under fire. This claim he makes was and still is a total crock. This makes me hate his little Scientology guts even more!
    Boycott his movies!!

While trying to ram scientology down our throats he is exposing it as a cult. If he keeps talking he alone will topple that house of cards. How in the world does he expect anyone to view him as an “authority” on the subjects he insists on lecturing on? Travolta’s poor son died and it was probably a needless death that could have been avoided if they had not been involved in that cult. (come on-who dies from seizures with the medications on the market these days?)

More importantly, I love Katie’s shoes. But why does she always look so unkempt/ sad/ diseased?

Wow, $cientology has a panacea for everything don’t they! They can’t cure bad acting. Years ago, didn’t Tommygirl try to cure another actor of cancer who eventually died, when he was filming Days of Thunder?

I think Tom just needs to spend a few million more dollars in Scientology.

They may have “cured” his dyslexia, but you’d think with his now god-like powers he’d have been able to read, “Heimlich” without David Letterman’s assistance.

I wonder how long it will be before Scientology realizes that having a tool like Tom Cruise promote it is actually helping dismantle their scam.

Scientology is full of shit, and cannot cure anything other than an overloaded bank account.

It’s sad that some of you come in here believing in a religion, that has cause countless deaths, and make fun of another religion, that has caused countless deaths.

  14. DerekR

Alas I doubt the $cientologists are puting much research in to curing gullibilty.

  15. Souza

The cures of dislexia are based on the work of l. Ron. Hubbard. Look it up before criticizing Cruise
