…and in a big way. The ShowBuzz has the scoop on the most recent development in Tom Cruise’s rollercoaster ride of a career:
Actor Tom Cruise and his business partner, Paula Wagner, have been tapped to run venerable film studio United Artists, which itself was formed by Hollywood actors including Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford. Wagner will serve as chief executive of the company, which is owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. MGM announced Thursday that Cruise will appear in UA films, but also will be allowed to star in films from rival studios. The development is a major comeback for Cruise and Wagner. They were unceremoniously dumped in August from their 14-year producing deal at Paramount Studios. MGM says Cruise and Wagner have taken an ownership interest in UA. Financial terms are unspecified. MGM says the pair will have full control of the production slate, which is expected to be four films a year.
I agree with the decision Tom seems to have made to get back to what he does best–starring in movies. Cause the last thing we need is more of him actually doing stuff without the aid of a script to guide his actions.
