‘True Blood’ Season 2: Sex, Shirtlessness & Social Commentary

June 22nd, 2009 // 5 Comments

The first season of HBO’s True Blood hooked audiences into the stories of Sookie Stackhouse and her supernatural buddies in Bon Temps, Louisiana.

Of course, the plot lines are all helped along with healthy doses of sexy scenes showcasing the enviable physiques of the hot, young stars.

And the returning season of the vampire series provides plenty of shirtless antics, along with some storylines that delve into issues of religion and spirituality, according to a review from Entertainment Weekly.

Of course, any social commentary is very cleverly sold with a side of sex. Not that we’re complaining.

'True Blood': Anna Paquin talks separating show, real-life relationships
If you look at what "True Blood" is really about, you can sum it up by and large with two words -- vampires and sex. With this in mind, it is possible that you could let certain aspects of production get to you if you take it too seriously. Thankfully ...
VOODOO THEY THINK THEY ARE
Show creator Alan Ball, 54, adds: “The vampires are pretty much a metaphor for sex. “I think we learn a lot about the mind and soul of a person through sex.” True Blood is on tomorrow night at 10pm on FX.

    so much yum.

eric’s highlights … classic lines. love it. “is there blood in my hair?” “pam is going to kill me.” LOL!

lafayette … what is going to happen with lafayette? and this jessica story line is getting interesting.

can we all just agree that last night’s episode had the worst/most effective cliffhanger EVER?! i mean, thankfully that wasn’t the end of a season or anything. jeez!

next week should be when sookie gets attacked by the maenad (or however that’s spelled.)

oh, and you have to love the department store lady, trying to hit on bill, then when eric comes and they have a little convo about how much bill “very much” likes eric’s new hair cut and color, she gives and understanding, “ohhhh” … hahaha! eric and bill. as if!

jason playing flag football? and you know it’s only a matter of time until he and sarah newlin have a little sumthin’ going on …

i think maryann might be the maenad … whatever she is, i feel so bad for sam having to deal with her! and poor daphne. she’s failing.

i’m hoping another deviation from the books will be that terry bellfluer and arlene get together! i’ve wanted that to happen since she comforted him the first season when he got tossed by the bad vamps.

omigosh, i’m sorry. i’ll stop now!

I have been a fan of true blood since the first episdoe. Tonights episode has completely changed that (08/23/09) . Are you seriouse? I felt as though i am watching a B rated elvira movie. the story line is just getting embarassingly rediculouse. Are you kidding me with this. This is suppose to be an HBO series not a public brodcast sitcom. PLEASE tell me your writers are on vacation and your using a bad temp service as fill ins until they get back.
