The stars were out last night to help celebrate the premiere of the movie Bandslam. The film’s two leading ladies, Vanessa Hudgens and Aly Michalka got a chance to chat with MTV about the movie and the directions their careers seem to be going in.

“It’s really amazing,” Aly said. “We worked really hard on this film, and we really had amazing chemistry on set. This is such a big night for me, and I’m so ecstatic.” Vanessa said basically the same thing, although she did admit that some of the tasks were a little daunting. “Vanessa came to me and said, ‘I don’t know how to play guitar!’ and I said, ‘You’ll be fine!’ ” Aly recalls of filming. “I told her to practice a lot, don’t stress, don’t think about it too much. And I think she definitely pulled it off. No one would know that she was freaked out about it.”

For both actresses, it’s the first time that they’ve ever gone solo in non Disney-ish projects. Aly and her sister A.J. were a staple on the Disney Channel and on Radio Disney, and Vanessa recently finished up a stint on three High School Musical films.

Both seem to be trying to separate from that good girl, super innocent thing into more mainstream, risqué work. Vanessa seems to be working doubly as hard what with more nude pics and everything. I guess she wanted to give us a preview of what we are gonna see before she strips on camera for her new film Sucker Punch. I guess she forgot we’d already seen everything. But Vanessa does admit she also wants to get away from the singing and dancing bit. “Especially now, I want to try and separate them as much as I can,” she told MTV. “Which is why the next movies I’m doing don’t have any music; I’m not singing in them. And I really want to take the time to do that, so that’s why right now I’m taking a chill on the music.”

As much I think this movie is probably going to be kinda horrific, the stars of the film looked quite fabulous at the premiere. And David Henrie is looking seriously hot. I basically can’t stop staring at pictures of him. Help me?
