Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez caused a paparazzi frenzy at the Marc Jacobs show. Poor Winona Ryder was left sulking in the background. “I think it’s good for people to get toughed around,” said Beckham. “This is crazy, I’m just so overwhelmed,” said Ryder. “It was like a mosh pit, but it’s worth it.”
Jacobs’ spring collection drew on an early 20th century inspiration. The soundtrack was George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and the runway was lined with glass panels that had the effect of fun-house mirrors. Jacobs offered offered waistcoats, back-wrap skirts with ruffles, menswear suit pieces, gaucho pants, draped striped gowns and a stunning black satin cocktail dress with a braided belt.
The palette was not either the tropical nor graphic ones that had dominated other runways; instead Jacobs rooted his looks in navy and red.
I’m assuming Jennifer Lopez was taking fashion notes. Lopez will the judging the finale of this season’s Project Runway according to Us. Nina Garcia wouldn’t confirm the news, but hinted the finale “is going to be unbelievable.”
“The guest star is one of the most iconic women around,” she recently told Us. “It’s going to take the cake.”
Iconic. Okay.
