During the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics Friday night the “We Are The World” music video premiered.  Over 75 recording artists and actors gathered for the “We Are The World – 25 For Haiti” recording.  The odd conglomerate featured stars from Celine Dion to Vince Vaughn.

Proceeds from the recording and the video will go directly to Haitian relief efforts through the We Are The World Foundation, a newly created not-for-profit organization compromised of three of the song contributors: Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, and Wyclef Jean

Richie co-wrote “We Are The World” 25 years a go with Michael Jackson.  His daughter, Nicole Richie joined him in the studio for the rerecord.  Lionel Richie told Billboard that if MJ were alive today, “He would be behind the scenes with us doing exactly what we’re doing: supporting everyone.”
