Marion Cotillard was accompanied by Rust & Bone director Jacques Audiard and co-star Mattias Schoenaerts at the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival tonight (May 17th), but all anyone had eyes for (and by anyone, I mean me) was the Oscar winner’s Christian Dior Couture black bodice and navy tulle ball gown.
Wait, I lied. I was also taken by her gorgeous bun, wrapped with a strand of Chopard diamonds. Everything about Cotillard’s red carpet appearance was exquisite, from the lipstick to the perfectly-shaped eyebrows down to her. Our friends over at Red Carpet Fashion Awards suggest that the photographers didn’t get a good enough shot of the exquisite gown, which we agree with.
Rust & Bone is about an orca trainer who wakes up after a horrific accident to find both her legs amputated. She then goes on to rebuild her life and “reconnects with her sexuality in the aftermath of the tragedy,” according to Bruce Kirkland.
The film is up for a Palm d’Or for best film, and the screening tonight was a success, according to reports. One festival goer told the Associated Foreign press that Rust & Bone received ”one of the biggest standing ovations of recent years — huge!”
So how about that Dior gown. Does Cotillard wear it well or what?
