Clint Eastwood took the stage (watch the video below) at the 2012 Republican National Convention on Thursday (August 30, 2012) at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Florida.

The 82-year-old actor and director made a “surprise” appearance at the event to support the Romney/Ryan ticket for the presidential bid.

That’s when things got very interesting. 

The empty chair was a bizarre and bold move Mr. Eastwood. Here is how some of Hollywood reacted to the speech:

Chris Rock: Clint Eastwood on the phone with Obama now: “It all went according to plan,sir.”#RNC #GOP2012

Olivia Munn: “Clint Eastwood was talking to an empty chair at the RNC…No, that’s not the set up to a joke. Its not even a joke.

Zachary Quinto: “is clint eastwood meant to instill confidence in republicans?! i am legitimately scared of his talking to imaginary obama.”

Roseanne Barr: “clint eastwood is CRAY.”

Zach Braff: “Now all my chairs want to be interviewed too.”
