X Men: First Class is set to be released on June 3rd, so director Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Kick-Ass) is feeling the pressure to finish his first big commercial film. But with a cast this strong (yet, so green), Vaughn isn’t nervous about the quality of the film as much as he is about the amount of time he has left to shoot. The people want their summer blockbuster, Vaughn. Chop chop.

This particular installment of the X Men series is being described as the prequel. It stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, January Jones, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult, Lucas Till, Jennifer Lawrence, Zoe Kravitz, and Bill Milner. Producer Brian Singer knows that the 1960s setting will throw off fans, but he’s confident in the work that Vaughn is doing. Singer told the LA Times,
“The biggest challenge is introducing an audience to these characters in a different time – characters the audience is familiar with but now see played by younger actors and in a story taking place in a different time. We have to establish this universe. We had the challenge with the first ‘X-Men’ film, which came at a time when there were no comic-book movies [of this sort] and no template to launch from and yet you’ve got to do that. You have to put your characters out there and introduce them to a quizzical public that sort of recognizes them. But that very thing is the exciting part of it.”
