First of all, I couldn’t get over the resemblance of Jordin Sparks in the photo that is running with her new perfume story. She looks like Grizabella from Cats, no? Anyway…

The American Idol 6 winner is launching her first fragrance, called ‘Because Of You’ (yeah, it’s a Kelly Clarkson song, which made me shake my head as well).

The scent is described as a ‘fruity floriental’ – maybe not a real word – that apparently transitions from a daytime scent to a nighttime scent effortlessly. Unlike other scents, which complain and begrudgingly transition from their dawn to dusk aromas.

“When I was starting this project, I really wanted it to be affordable. I looked at some other celebrity fragrances, and they were like $80. Even now, I look at a fragrance that’s $80, and I can’t bring myself to spend that much,” Sparks explained in a chat with Women’s Wear Daily last week. Really? People pay $80 a month for a phone, if not more. Or for their haircut. Or drug habits. They can afford perfume.

But if you’re looking for it, it’ll be at Dots and Target. ‘Nuff said.
