“Penelope,” which is Reese Witherspoon’s first film, as a producer has been picked up by the IFC for a 2007 Theatrical release. Penelope, which the “Legally Blonde” star also stars in as a biker chick that the main character Penelope played by Christina Ricci befriends. “Penelope” is the story of a rich girl with a pig snout who must find true love to break the curse. Among many scared suitors a crafty paparazzi hires a young man to compete for her affection while he becomes strangely attracted to the young woman.

The project was produced by Witherspoon and Jennifer Simpson’s Type A Films, and Stone Village Pictures.” Reese has a real knack for producing, from working on a script to hiring technical workers to even suggesting shots to the director,” said Stone Village principal Scott Steindorff. Last month the film had its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and was one of the most talked about films there. Congrats Reese, although I thought you were a producer on the “Legally Blonde” movies too?
