Woody Harrelson’s Dad Dies In Prison

March 21st, 2007 // 15 Comments

Woody Harrelson’s Dad had kind of a checkered past, at one time even being linked with the JFK assassination. *shudder* Anyway, he died while in prison on March 15.

Actor Woody Harrelson’s father, Charles Harrelson, died of a heart attack in the Supermax federal prison where he was serving two life sentences for the murder of a federal judge, officials said Wednesday.

Charles Harrelson was convicted of murder in the May 29, 1979, slaying of U.S. District Judge John Wood Jr. outside his San Antonio, Texas, home. Prosecutors said a drug dealer hired him to kill Wood because he did not want the judge to preside at his upcoming trial.

That’s a tough road to hoe. Our sincere condolences. Woody’s on my list of people I don’t snark on because he will throw glasses in bars and take on the police. I don’t play that.

Well this news explains that bar brawl in Venice Beach last week Woody was involve with. Woody is probably the only decent thing Charlie ever had anything to do with.

I’m picturing a Walmart situation, but everyone’s wearing orange and shivving eachother at the 10 items or less counter.

This blog used to be my most favorite blog along with MK’s Dlisted but now they rarely put up any gossip news with the witty commentary. Instead we get advertisements for clothes and the dumb headlines they list. Tsk-tsk…

This guy was a MURDERER. He confessed to murdering several people. Sorry he was Woody’s dad, but good riddance!

its “tough ROW to hoe”, not road. “row” as in short for “furrow”, as in a field of crops.

Condolences to Woody Harrelson and his family. And btw the phrase is “row to hoe”, as in “I have to hoe 12 rows of corn”. Don’t ask me how I know. :)

Thank you fyi. I was just about to post the same thing.

    You know…

I generally have enjoyed gossip commentary, but there’s something about seeing this headline and these specific photos that makes me realize…wow. How sick it is we are so fixated on these people’s lives- Woody Harrelson’s father just passed away and we’re entertained by his mugshot?!?

How irrelevant is that? And how disrespectful? The man was a felon, but his family are alive and the ones dealing with his death. Thanks for this post, actually, because it’s made me realize that I don’t need or want to view this type of thing anymore- these people are PEOPLE. They grieve, have a right to privacy, and on and on and on.

I’m done with these blogs. So thanks!

    I second what Alice said.

    To further explain:

Lately it seems the writers at this blog just try to out-do each other on their titles, and the articles lack in substance.

What is with this self-congratulatory contest of wits anyway. I find it disingenuous.

My advice FWIW: Go back to your roots. It worked.

I don’t know what your crazy ASL haters are all about? If you don’t find the blog funny or interesting anymore, that’s your problem. I find Jay and Lisa hilarious!

    you’re so right, don’tmakemelaugh.

it’s not the victorian writings of shakespeare; mainly b/c shakespeare wrote during the elizabethan era. the victorian era was a few hundred years later.

Along the lines of the correction on the “tough row to hoe”… its also “eat one’s cake and have it too.” which points to the impossibility of both eating one’s cake and still having it afterwards. Presumably so you could eat again later.

Its got nothing to do with this, but as long as folks are pointing out misbegotten, and oft mistake phrases, that’s one’s always gotten my goat.
