The 2024 Oscars followed the predicted path, with Oppenheimer emerging as the big winner, bagging seven categories, including supporting actor, lead actor, director, and picture. The ceremony did not witness any major upsets, although there were a few surprises in categories that were considered to be extremely close. For instance, Emma Stone’s win over the presumed frontrunner, Lily Gladstone, from Killers of the Flower Moon was a shocker.
Jimmy Kimmel hosted the Oscars on Sunday, which were largely entertaining and here are six memorable moments that went viral.
A Nearly Naked John Cena Presents the Costume Design Oscar
In an homage to the 1974 streaking incident involving the late Robert Opel, who ran naked behind an unsuspecting David Niven onstage, who was introducing Elizabeth Taylor at the time, Jimmy Kimmel thought it would be fun to have John Cena recreate the moment.
Kimmel was trying to cue the streaker to streak, and Cena popped his head out from behind some scenery, whining that the whole bit made him “feel ashamed” and that it was a “tasteless idea.”
“Dude, I don’t wrestle naked, I wrestle in jorts,” Cena told Kimmel.
Kimmel replied, “Jorts are worst than naked.”
Cena then moved onstage in front of the mic, covering his manhood with “the envelope.”
Gasping Cena said, “Costumes, They are so important. Maybe the most important thing there is. I can’t open the envelope!”
