Millie Bobby Brown said that Stranger Things is preventing her from adding other projects to her schedule, comparing it to the final years of high school.

Brown, named one of Glamour‘s 2023 Women of the Year, told the magazine she's ready to move on as the show approaches its fifth and final season.

“When you're ready, you're like, ‘All right, let's do this. Let's tackle this last senior year. Let's get out of here,'” she told Glamour.

Stranger Things takes up a lot of time to film and it's preventing me from creating stories that I'm passionate about,” she continued. “So I'm ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.'”

Stranger Things star David Harbour said in March that filming for the series was initially slated to begin in June 2023. However, showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer announced in May that production would be on hold until the WGA strike ended. While the WGA reached a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) in September, actors are still on strike as negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP stall.

This isn't the first time Brown has said she's ready to close the Stranger Things chapter of her life.

“You're ready to go and blossom and flourish and you're grateful for the time you've had, but it's time to create your own message and live your own life,” she told Women's Wear Daily.

Brown is set to star alongside Chris Pratt in The Electric State, directed by the Russo Brothers. She also stars alongside Henry Cavill in Netflix's Enola Holmes films, which her production company PCMA produced.

Ultimately, Brown said that Stranger Things has given her “the tools and the resources to be a better actor.” And even as it ends, she's not worried about losing contact with her costars.

“When it ends, I'm going to be able to still see these people,” she told Glamour.
