In a revealing interview with The Hollywood Reporter, acclaimed actress Emma Stone, known for her roles in several box office hits, shared a personal wish to revert to her birth name, Emily, after two decades under her stage name. The Hollywood favorite, whose career has flourished under the moniker “Emma,” expressed a longing for the simplicity and authenticity of her given name.

The need for a stage name arose early in Stone's career due to the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) regulations, discouraging members from registering under identical professional names. Faced with the dilemma of sharing her birth name, Emily Stone, with another guild member, she opted for “Emma.” Initially a mere formality, this change became an identity she carried through her meteoric rise in the entertainment industry.

However, Stone recently confessed to experiencing a moment of introspection, questioning the sustainability of her stage persona. “Then I freaked out a couple of years ago. For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.’” she recounted.
