May is Mental Health Month and it’s a perfect time for the return of the drag doctor who proves that laughter truly is the best medicine.
The iconic Jackie Beat – everyone’s favorite unqualified, self-centered show biz shrink – is all dolled-up and ready to nod her head while she pretends to be listening on the much-anticipated second season of the hilarious hit show Dr. Jackie: Unlicensed Psychotherapist. The 6-part series will premiere on OUTtv on May 16, with new episodes airing each week through June 20. Episode 1 will be free on OUTtv on The Roku Channel and on The Apple TV Channel in the US/Canada. Watch the trailer HERE.
In the series, Jackie, the drop-dead gorgeous, larger-than-life, world-famous drag superstar, uses every trick up her sequined sleeve to help her funny, famous, and fabulous “friends” navigate the rocky road of mental health. And the annoyingly thin and pretty Sherry Vine is also back as Dr. Jackie’s adorable but confused receptionist.
Jackie says, “It’s such a great feeling to not only entertain people, but be able to help them, too. It’s a real win-win. I’m very proud of the fact that I am able to make mental health just a little more glamorous and fun! And if anyone wants to cancel me for “mocking” psychotherapy, please do it! I haven’t been on THAT reality television show so I need all the publicity I can get!”
The star power has been upped for the second season, with lots of special guests dropping in during Jackie’s office hours. Among the patients are Drag Race alums Bianca Del Rio, Manila Luzon, Trixie Mattel, Ginger Minj, Jinkx Monsoon, Peppermint, Alaska Thunderfuck, Nina West, and Willam, as well as drag legends Lady Bunny and Varla Jean Merman. Michelle Visage also stops by for a session. In addition, season two brings us appearances by such luminaries as Bridget Everett & Murray Hill, SNL’s Cecily Strong, Julie Brown, Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Lynch, Debbie Harry, and Jane Wiedlin.
Don’t miss the season two premiere of Dr. Jackie: Unlicensed Psychotherapist on May 16 on OUTtv.
