The Socialite Life Code of Ethics and Editorial Standards

The Socialite Life is committed to accurate, fair, independent, and fast reporting — and to owning our mistakes when we make them. This Code guides our newsroom and is our promise to readers. It will evolve as our work does.

Core Values

• Accuracy – We report only what we can verify. Every word we publish must earn readers’ trust.
• Fairness – We treat subjects and sources with respect and represent a range of perspectives.
• Independence – We answer to the public interest, not political, corporate, or advocacy pressure.
• Speed – We publish quickly, but never faster than the truth allows.
• Accountability – We listen to readers, admit mistakes, and fix them.

Editorial Standards

• Sourcing & Anonymity – We don’t pay for information. Anonymous sources are used only to protect people from harm or serve a compelling public interest, are corroborated wherever possible, and require senior editor approval.
• Identification – Reporters identify themselves to sources. Undercover reporting requires pre-authorization and is a last resort; we may observe public events without self-identifying.
• Interviews – All interviews are on the record unless otherwise agreed in advance, and we honor those agreements.
• Conflicts of Interest – Journalists never profit personally from what they cover, may not accept significant gifts or paid travel, and must disclose any potential conflict to editorial management.
• Political Activity – Journalists don’t donate to political candidates or causes or engage in political activism; opinion writers are exempt.
• Requests for Comment – We make a reasonable effort to reach key subjects before publishing.
• Opinion vs. Reporting – Opinion content is always labeled, reflects the author alone, and is kept distinct from news reporting.
• Corrections – We correct errors quickly and transparently. Major corrections carry an editor’s note; minor clarifications don’t require one. Substantive updates are dated.
• Story Removal – Stories are removed only in exceptional cases (serious factual or legal issues), only by senior editors, with a public note where appropriate.
• Plagiarism & Fabrication – Never tolerated.
• Violent & Sexual Content – Covered only when it serves the public interest, and handled sparingly and with purpose.
• Social Media – Journalists use personal accounts with good judgment, mindful they represent The Socialite Life — though their personal opinions are their own.
• Artificial Intelligence – Any AI use in our reporting follows this Code and our separate AI usage guidelines.
