Adele quit drinking three months ago after being a ‘borderline alcoholic’ in her 20s

Over the weekend, during her Las Vegas residency, Adele revealed that sheโ€™s been abstaining from alcohol, admitting she was โ€œborderline alcoholicโ€ during her 20s.

She spilled the beans seemingly on the fly after pointing out some front-row audience membersโ€™ large glasses of whiskey sour.

โ€œI stopped drinking quite a long time ago now,โ€ Adele said, recalling exactly when she sipped her last adult beverage. โ€œOh, it feels like forever. Maybe, like, three and a half months ago?โ€

The crowd then erupted in laughter, showing their solidarity in recognizing how protracted a period of time can feel without alcohol in the mix. The singer continued: โ€œItโ€™s boring! Oh my God, itโ€™s boring. I mean, you know, I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my 20s, but I miss it so much. I cut out caffeine [too]. So, enjoy your whiskey sour. Iโ€™m very, very jealous.โ€

Not that sheโ€™s known for filtering herself or anything, but Adele has been open about her drinking habits in the past. At another Vegas residency show earlier this year, she reportedly told the crowd that in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, sheโ€™d down as many as โ€œfour bottles of wineโ€ in one go.

However, she took a stint of sobriety not long after, saying in a 2021 interview that she stopped drinking when she lost her father to cancer.

But three and a half months of not drinking is nothing to sneeze at, and weโ€™ll raise our glasses to that.
