Alec Baldwin has submitted a plea of not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge against him in the tragic shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust in New Mexico.

The actor waived his virtual arraignment, originally scheduled for Thursday, and instead filed a court document on Wednesday. The court order also specifies that Baldwin must not have firearms and abide by other conditions. The grand jury indicted the 65-year-old actor in January, with the charge carrying a potential sentence of up to 18 months in prison.

Baldwin's lawyers, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro of Quinn Emanuel said they look forward to their day in court following the indictment.

This is the second time that Baldwin has faced charges for involuntary manslaughter in connection to the shooting, with Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies brought the previous charge in January 2023. Baldwin had entered a plea of not guilty in response to that filing.
