Highlights

  • Anne Hathaway says facelift rumors became so “distracting” she felt forced to speak out.
  • Her “secret” was two hidden temple braids by hairstylist Orlando Pita, not surgery.
  • Hathaway admits she might still get a facelift someday, just not yet.

Anne Hathaway has had enough of the facelift chatter, and she’s finally saying so out loud.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 star, 43, is covering Elle‘s Summer 2026 issue, and she’s getting candid about the months-long facelift rumors that blew up after her show-stopping appearance at the 2026 Oscars. Her taut skin and sculpted jawline sent the internet into full speculation mode, and honestly, it hasn’t let up since.

After the Oscars, Hathaway posted a behind-the-scenes Instagram video revealing that hairstylist Orlando Pita had created two hidden braids near her temples, pulling them back to give her face a subtle lift. Simple enough, right? Not for the internet.

“We’re at a time when people feel very confident in assuming what they think is fact, and sometimes what they think is accurate, and sometimes it’s not,” she told Elle.

She also admitted she wrestled with whether to post the video at all.

“My preference would be to never comment on anything and to just live in the mystery and not draw attention to myself, but the speculation has gotten so loud that you do feel the need to just get your truth out there,” she said.

And she didn’t hold back on just how big a deal people were making it.

“Also, by the way, these are huge medical decisions that people are presuming. I wanted to show that like, no, I didn’t make a huge medical decision. It’s just two braids,” the actress said.

But here’s where it gets interesting. Hathaway didn’t shut the door on a facelift forever, confessing, “I might still get a facelift someday.”

As for how she’s handling the noise now vs. back in the day? She reflected that criticism would have been harder to handle when she was younger, saying, “One of the things about younger me is she was really scared, and I think that fear made me harsh with myself.”

Facelift or no facelift, Anne Hathaway is clearly done letting the rumors run the show.
