2018 was a pretty horrible year for Ariana Grande. The singer's ex-boyfriend Mac Miller passed away due to an overdose, and Grande ended her engagement to Pete Davidson.

Last night (December 30, 2018), Ariana shared a touching tribute to Miller by posting a photo of him playing the piano before unexplainedly deleting the image. It has since been replaced with a post welcoming the new year.

Grande is clearly looking forward to 2019. Mac Miller was on her mind last night before Grande clicked delete on a photo of the late Pittsburgh rapper's hands playing the piano.

She looked back on a stressful year, posting, “farewell 2018, you fuck. i hope this new year brings you all much laughter, clarity and healing. 🖤 be gentle with yourselves and each other. if we made it thru this last year, we’ll for sure make it thru this one. thank you for everything..”

While Grande’s tributes to Miller have mostly been photographs or brief videos, she honored him and others in her recent hit song “Thank U, Next” — calling him “an angel” — and also posted an emotional note to him in September, which reads: “i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will,” she wrote. “i can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. i really can’t wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you’re okay now. rest.”
