Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman have ended their marriage after 26 years.
Zoe, 53, shared the news on Instagram on Monday, September 9, stating, “After 33 years together and 26 years married, Rodger and I have come to the mutual decision to end our marriage. We are incredibly proud of the loving family we have created and our countless memories together.”
She added, “Our number one priority has been and will always be our children. We are committed to coparent our boys and to continue to work together within the many businesses we share. We ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this new chapter.”
The post was signed, “With love and gratitude — Rachel & Rodger.”
The couple's story began in 1991 at George Washington University. They wed in 1998 and became parents to two sons: Skyler, 13, and Kaius, 11.
TV viewers have followed Zoe and Berman's relationship over the years. They appeared on Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project from 2007 to 2013, and later on Lifetime's Fashionably Late With Rachel Zoe in 2015. Berman also plays a key role in Rachel Zoe Inc. as cofounder and co-CEO.
Just last year, Zoe celebrated their 31st anniversary on Instagram. She wrote, “I have loved you @rbermanus from this day 8.29 ❤️ 31 years ago … we have done this life together and I cannot wait to see what is yet to come. Happiest anniversary to my person 🙏🏻❤️ And yes everyone, we met in kindergarten 😉.”
Berman was last featured on Zoe's Instagram in June for Father's Day. She posted, “Happy Father's Day to our ❤️@rbermanus one of the best to ever do it. Our boys are the luckiest and we are so grateful for you,” alongside a photo of Berman with their sons.
Before their split, the couple shared insights into their long-lasting relationship. In a 2017 chat with Well+Good, Zoe said, “We talk things out. I think we just deal with it. And anyone that knows us really well would say that our recovery rate is the shortest recovery rate they've ever seen. We recover in three to five minutes. We just kind of forget about it. That's what happens after a million years together.” Berman agreed, saying this habit was “one of the things that has kept us sort of sane,” and added, “We don't really go to the grave with anything.”
The news of their separation has surprised many fans who have followed their journey through TV shows and social media over the years.
Despite Berman's infrequent social media activity in recent years, he shared a heartfelt Instagram post for Zoe's birthday in September 2021. He called her “a true beauty inside and out” and added, “My wife and best friend. Together we are one.”
Earlier that year, Berman expressed their enduring bond. He posted a selfie of the couple on Instagram in February 2021, captioning it: “23 years of marriage, 2 kids, 1 global pandemic later … and I couldn't love you more. Happy anniversary to the love of my life.”
These public declarations of affection make their recent separation announcement all the more surprising to fans.
