In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, Bobby Berk sheds light on his departure from the popular Netflix series Queer Eye. The interior design expert explains why he chose to step away from the show following the completion of its seventh season and addresses the rumors of a feud with his co-star, Tan France.

Berk reveals that after the most recent season wrapped up, he, along with co-stars Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, and Jonathan Van Ness, believed that the show had run its course. Although they were offered a four-season deal, he declined, assuming that his colleagues were doing the same. However, they ended up signing on for another season, and Netflix decided to recast one person.

While Berk admits that he was initially upset, he holds no grudges. He was committed to the plans he had already set in motion after leaving the show. Berk, who wowed audiences with his incredible home transformations, also sets the record straight about his rumored beef with France, who he unfollowed on Instagram.

According to Berk, the tension between him and France had nothing to do with the show. He admits that they had a personal situation brewing, which they eventually resolved at the Emmys, where they won for outstanding structured reality program. He says that they embraced and congratulated each other, and although they havenโ€™t completely hashed everything out, heโ€™s optimistic that they will reconcile in due time.

Berk recognizes that their relationship is akin to that of siblings who occasionally squabble. He says that the Emmys moment was a good first step in healing their relationship. While neither France nor Netflix has commented on the matter, Berk is grateful for his time on Queer Eye and is excited about his future endeavors.
