Last night (Jun. 29, 2021) TMZ published an article titled “Britney Spears files legal docs to end conservatorship.” Well, it looks like they hit the publish button before she actually did so.

The story vanished from their website just minutes later.

CNN is reporting that she has “begged” her attorney, Samuel Ingham, III to file a petition to end the arrangement once and for all, according to a source close to the singer's family.

“Britney has spoken to Sam multiple times since last week and she has asked him point-blank, once again, to file the paperwork to end this,” this source told CNN.

A second source close to Spears confirmed that the singer, who has been vacationing in Hawaii, had spoken to Ingham and urged him to move forward with the necessary legal efforts.

Reporter Marjorie Hernandez of Us Weekly tweeted an update stating “At the end of business day, the petition had not been filed, but sources said the termination paperwork has been prepared.”

This followed an earlier tweet stating that “Sources have confirmed to
@usweekly that #BritneySpears and her lawyer just filed a petition to terminate her conservatorship. Details to come! #FreeBritney”

Page Six editor Nicholas Hautman clarified why the TMZ story had been pulled. Tweeting, “Echoing my awesome former coworker @MJae13, the paperwork is done and ready for the court, but it was not formally processed through the system by the time the courthouse closed today. This explains why TMZ pulled its premature story. Patience, y’all. It’s happening. #FreeBritney”

If all of this plays out as explained in the above tweets, we will hopefully be updating this article with filing news.
