The rising tensions between the nations kicked into high gear last Friday when Israel launched what it called a preemptive strike on Iran to curb its nuclear program.

Tehran fired back with missiles aimed at Tel Aviv and other major Israeli cities. Since then, both countries have been trading bombs back and forth, raising fears about a potential full-scale war and broader regional conflict.

By day four of the clash, strikes on Israel had claimed 24 lives while at least 224 people in Iran had died from the conflict, according to reports from both governments.
