Country music star Scotty McCreery halted his recent Colorado State Fair concert mid-performance after a man allegedly struck a woman in the audience, as shown in social media footage.
The American Idol Season 10 winner was singing “It Matters To Her,” a tune he penned for his wife when he suddenly stopped the show.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Right here. Right here,” he said in a video shared on Facebook Sunday by a concertgoer. “That’s a lady you just hit, sir. Absolutely not. Who just hit the lady?”
McCreery then called for security and law enforcement.
“Is she OK? Get the heck out of here,” he stated.
“Y’all let the cop know who hit the lady. That’s absolutely unacceptable,” McCreery continued as fans chanted “Scotty! Scotty!” back to him. “Whoever you are, that’s the definition of a coward, hitting a lady. Get the heck outta here, man.”
“On God’s green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show?!” he said. “What are you doing?”
Nashville NBC affiliate WSMV4 reports that Colorado State Fair representatives confirmed an alleged assault that took place at the show and that security assisted with crowd control. They did not comment further on whether any charges were brought forward concerning the incident.
