Eminem spoke a few words at a Kamala Harris rally in Detroit on Tuesday night (Oct. 22, 2024). He discussed people's fear of speaking up and his belief that Harris would protect free speech as President.
Before introducing former President Barack Obama, Eminem told the crowd he was there “for a couple of important reasons.”
“As most of you know, the city of Detroit and the home state of Michigan mean a lot to me,” he said. “And going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever, and I think it's important to use your voice. So I'm encouraging everybody to get out and vote please.”
He added, “I also think people shouldn't be afraid to express their opinions, and I don't think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution, of what people will do if you make your opinion known.”
“I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld.”
A Moment to Remember
When Obama took the stage, he admitted, “I have done a lot of rallies, so I don't usually get nervous. But I was feeling some kind of weight following Eminem.” He then surprised everyone by rapping Eminem's “Lose Yourself.”
“I thought Eminem was going to perform and I was going to jump out,” Obama joked.
The Harris campaign has been bringing in celebs for rallies. Bruce Springsteen is set to perform in Atlanta on Thursday and in Philly on Monday. Earlier, Bradley Whitford joined Obama and Tim Walz at an event. Julia Roberts also campaigned for Harris in Georgia not long ago.
