Emma Stone Sets the Record Straight on If She Called Jimmy Kimmel a ‘Prick’ Over Oscars Joke

Hollywood's awards season has its fair share of light-hearted banter, but Emma Stone made it clear that she does not take such jests to heart.

During the Oscars earlier this year, host Jimmy Kimmel made a quip following the montage for “Poor Things,” a nominee for Best Picture, saying, “Those were all the parts of Poor Things that we’re allowed to show on TV.” The camera then cut to Stone, who appeared irritated, sparking rumors and internet chatter that she took offense. Some even speculated she was caught on camera mouthing the word “prick” in response.

However, in a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Stone clarified her reaction, dismissing any allegations of offense. “Did he upset me?” she responded when The Hollywood Reporter asked her about the moment. “No! I didn't call him a prick. What did I say? I didn't call him a prick. I wasn't upset with him at all. I'll have to look that up. I’m near-unoffendable.”

Stone, known for her quick wit and comical timing, recounted a previous incident at the Golden Globes where her humor led to misunderstandings. After making a sarcastic comment about Taylor Swift, she saw how easily her remarks could be taken out of context. “I definitely won’t make a joke like that again,” Stone told Variety, “because I saw headlines that really pulled it out of context.” Pointing at herself, Stone said, “What a dope.”

Despite the fleeting moment of controversy, Stone's performance in Poor Things garnered widespread acclaim, culminating in her winning the Academy Award for Best Actress. In the film, she plays Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life who explores themes of empowerment, adversity, and self-discovery. Stone's portrayal has been celebrated for its depth and complexity, securing her place once more at the pinnacle of Hollywood's elite.
