Sophie Turner, Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke and the Game of Thrones cast attended the fiery season 8 premiere in New York City on Wednesday evening (April 03, 2019) ahead of the show’s premiere on April 14.

Game of Thrones has won multiple Emmy awards and is HBO’s biggest hit ever with some 30 million viewers in the United States and an army of devoted fans worldwide.

The series, set among warring families in the fictional kingdom of Westeros, is based on novels by George R.R. Martin in a series called A Song of Ice and Fire.

Not every cast member could be in attendance, though: Lena Headey, who plays the deliciously evil Cersei Lannister, fell ill and couldn’t attend the premiere, but she did send her apologies via Instagram.
