Following the release of a set of House of Gucci posters, the first trailer for the film featuring Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Adam Driver’s Maurizio Gucci, who was sentenced to 29 years for ordering a hit on him.
Acclaimed director Ridley Scott (Alien, Thelma and Louise, Gladiator) helms the anticipated film that’s based on Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.
The crime film spans three decades beginning with the love affair, marriage, and divorce of Italian socialite Patrizia and Maurizio. The son of Rodolfo Gucci (Jeremy Irons) and the grandson of the fashion house’s founder Guccio Gucci, Maurizio was gunned down in 1995, a hit for which Patrizia was convicted and sentenced to 29 years.
“I don’t consider myself to be a particularly ethical person. “But I am fair,” says Gaga as Patrizia in the trailer set to Blondie‘s ‘Heart of Glass.”
According to CEO Marco Bizzarri, Gucci cooperated with the production and allowed them complete access to their archives for that too-die-for wardrobe.
While the film looks fascinating, the Gucci family is NOT happy at all. Patricia Gucci, Maurizio Gucci’s second cousin, told The Associated Press, via ABC News, that the family was “truly disappointed” by the film.
“I speak on behalf of the family,” Gucci said to the outlet. “They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system….Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything. but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”
