If you have a tour coming up and want to sell lots of tickets, there are a few ways to achieve that.

Jared Leto chose an alternate route. With 30 Seconds to Mars gearing up to hit the road next March, he decided to get some attention by climbing the Empire State Building.

He went from the 86th floor to the 104th . . . or from the observation deck to the base of the antenna at the very top. That makes him officially the first person to climb the building legally.

After it was over, he told the Today show, “I was more excited than nervous to tell you the truth. But I have to be honest, it was very, very hard. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

“Just the endurance that it took, the stamina that it took, and it was very sharp.”

“It’s incredible,” the musician went on, gushing. “To watch the sun rise overlooking the city that’s meant so much to me. Ever since I was a kid, New York stood for the place that you went to make your dreams come true.”
