Hollywood friendships can get pretty weird, but this story from Jennifer Lawrence takes the cake—or should we say, the garbage?
The Oscar-winning actress just dropped one of the most hilarious celebrity anecdotes we’ve heard in a while. During her recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Jennifer Lawrence confessed that she once served her co-star Robert Pattinson food straight from her trash can. Yeah, you read that right.
So here’s how it all went down. Lawrence was having a cozy girls’ night back in December with her friends, all in their pajamas, watching Little Women. Sounds pretty perfect, right? Then things took an unexpected turn when Pattinson called her up.
“He was like, ‘Hey, I just wrapped something like a block away from you,'” Lawrence recalled. “And I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ ‘Cause Rob is one of the girls. He wants to gossip. He just is one of the gals. So I was like, ‘Come over!'”
Now, before you judge Jennifer Lawrence too harshly, she explained that she has this very maternal relationship with the Twilight star. “He’s also like my daughter,” she said. “He’s a great father, he’s a professional, he shows up on time, but I wouldn’t trust that he, like, put a coat on. He brings out a very maternal [side in me].”
When Robert Pattinson showed up at her door, he had one simple request: food. He was starving. The problem? Lawrence’s fridge was completely empty. Well, not exactly empty—the only food she had was already sitting in the garbage.
Thinking fast, Lawrence said: “He goes to the bathroom, and I do have food, but it’s in the trash. And so while he was in the bathroom, I was just, like, pulling food out of my garbage can.”
Her friends were absolutely stunned, watching in disbelief as Pattinson unknowingly ate the rescued trash food. But wait, it gets better. After finishing his first helping, he asked, “I’m still hungry. Is there more?”
That’s when Lawrence finally came clean about where the food came from. Most people would be horrified, right? Not Robert Pattinson. “He was like, ‘Oh, I don’t mind.’ And he just pulled it out of the trash and just kept eating it,” Lawrence said.
Host Graham Norton had the perfect response, joking that this made Pattinson “the ideal house guest.”
The two actors are currently starring together in Die, My Love, a psychological thriller hitting theaters on November 7. The movie follows a couple in crisis as Lawrence’s character slowly descends into madness—though apparently, their off-screen relationship is just pure comedy gold.
