According to the outlet, the stars met years ago and have stayed friendly with one another since. When the comedian was admitted to rehab, she sent him well wishes online.
“Sending SO MUCH love and support to John Mulaney,” she tweeted at the time. “You got this.”
According to People, the former Saturday Night Live writer completed a 60-day stay in rehab in February. He’s now working on maintaining his sobriety as an outpatient. The stand-up comedian made his return to the stage on Monday (May. 10, 2021) for a stand-up routine in New York.
Mulaney recently revealed he asked his wife, Anna Marie Tendler, for a divorce three months ago, and she responded by confessing his decision blindsided her.
“I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage,” she said through a spokesperson. “I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.”
In a 2015 HuffPost Live interview, Munn talked about being at a wedding with both Mulaney and his now ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler and being “obsessed” with him.
“We were at a wedding together and I was like ‘Oh my gosh, do you and your fiancé want to go have dinner or something and go hang out?'” she said.
“At first it was cool, and then I kept going up to him at the wedding like ‘So, you having fun?'” she said.” I was just so obsessed with hanging out with and talking with him.”
Munn added that she emailed the then-engaged comic but he never emailed back. “I might’ve got the wrong email — probably. That’s what I tell myself,” she said.
