Jonathan Bailey, the acclaimed star of Wicked and Bridgerton, has opened up about the possibility of becoming a father someday, offering a candid perspective on parenthood during a recent interview with Esquire UK.
The 36-year-old actor, who was recently named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, shared thoughtful reflections on what having kids might mean for his future. When asked about fatherhood, Bailey acknowledged the privilege of being able to consider such a significant life choice. “There’s obviously loads of kids that could really benefit from love and support,” he said.
Jonathan Bailey emphasized the unique position he finds himself in as an openly gay man. “I have the absolute privilege of being a gay man — there’s no biological clock,” he explained. “It’s such a privilege, isn’t it, to even be able to have a kid? So, I’m aware of it as an idea, as a concept, but it doesn’t feel very loud in my head at the moment.”
Despite not feeling immediate pressure to become a parent, the actor hasn’t ruled out the possibility entirely. When asked directly if he wants to step into fatherhood, Bailey responded positively: “If the planets align, for sure.”

The Bridgerton star also displayed his characteristic humor when discussing what kind of parent he might be. “I feel like in the world that we live in now, everyone’s going to need a bit of guidance,” he said. “Although, I’d be terrible at getting them through university. And they would not be able to speak another language. But maybe they will, and that’s how I’ll learn.”
Bailey’s reflections on potential fatherhood come during an exceptionally busy period in his career. Following his breakout role as Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix’s hit series, the actor has starred in the blockbuster musical Wicked alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

Throughout his rise to fame, Jonathan Bailey has maintained a thoughtful approach to balancing his professional success with his personal aspirations, making it clear that having kids remains a possibility in his future when the timing feels right.
