Kate, the Princess of Wales, is set to make her public return this weekend after undergoing treatment for cancer.

In a written message released on Friday, Kate, 42, confirmed she would attend the Trooping the Colour ceremony in London on Saturday. This will be her first official public appearance since revealing her diagnosis earlier this year.

The annual military ceremony marks the official birthday of King Charles III, who will also attend following his own cancer diagnosis.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet,” Kate said in her message, which was posted on social media alongside a new photo of the princess.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson expressed the King’s enthusiasm, stating, “His Majesty is delighted that The Princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events, and is much looking forward to all elements of the day.”

Kate will be joined by her children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, who have also been largely absent from public view in recent months. The family will arrive together in a carriage down the Mall and will watch the ceremony from Horse Guards Parade, followed by a traditional royal balcony appearance.

The gathering on the balcony concludes each year’s event with a flyover by the Royal Air Force.
In her message, Kate provided an update on her cancer treatment. She stated she was making good progress but emphasized that her treatment would continue for several more months.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days, you feel weak and tired and have to give in to resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well,” Kate explained.

She added that she found joy in engaging with school life, spending time on activities that bring her energy and positivity, and starting to do some work from home when her health permits.

Kate expressed gratitude for the support she has received, saying, “I’ve been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made a world of difference to William and me and has helped us through some of the harder times.”

Concluding her message, Kate reflected on the lessons she has learned during her treatment. “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal. Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”
