Keanu Reeves’ Neo Will Return in The Matrix 4

Nearly 20 years after the original was released, Keanu Reeves will once again star in the latest installment of the Sci-Fi film The Matrix, Warner Brothers announced on Tuesday (August 20, 2019).

Reeves will once again be joined by Carrie-Anne Moss. The two will reprise their roles of Neo and Trinity, respectively.

A release date for the fourth installment of The Matrix has not been announced. The third installment of the franchise was released in 2003.

โ€œMany of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,โ€ producer Lana Wachowski said in a statement. โ€œIโ€™m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.โ€

Warner Bros did not specify if the new film would be a direct sequel, saying only that it was โ€œset in the world of The Matrix,โ€ and did not give a release date.

Work on the sequel is said to begin in early 2020.
