The Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on Friday (November 7, 2025), with hip-hop superstar Kendrick Lamar leading the pack with an impressive nine nominations across multiple categories. The Compton native continues his Grammy dominance following a triumphant performance at this year’s ceremony, where he took home more awards than any other artist.
Lamar’s nominations span the most prestigious categories at the Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for his critically acclaimed project GNX, Record of the Year for his collaboration with SZA titled “Luther,” and Song of the Year. This marks the third time in his career that Kendrick Lamar has received simultaneous nominations in all three major categories, cementing his status as one of the most celebrated artists in Grammy history.
The Los Angeles rapper brings 22 Grammy wins and 66 career nominations into this year’s ceremony. Notably, GNX represents his fifth consecutive studio album to earn an Album of the Year nomination, a feat no other artist has achieved. If victorious, it would mark his first win in this category and make GNX only the third rap album to claim the top prize, following OutKast‘s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in 2004 and Lauryn Hill‘s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1999.
The nominations come on the heels of Lamar’s successful showing at the 2025 Grammy Awards, where his hit single “Not Like Us” earned him both Record of the Year and Song of the Year honors. His momentum shows no signs of slowing as he heads into the upcoming ceremony with opportunities to repeat in both categories with “Luther.”
Lady Gaga trails closely behind with seven nominations, matching producers Jack Antonoff and Cirkut at that level. Meanwhile, Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, Leon Thomas, and mixing engineer Serban Ghenea each secured six nominations. The diversity of nominees reflects the Recording Academy’s commitment to recognizing excellence across genres and disciplines.

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. expressed enthusiasm about this year’s nominees in a statement. “The Grammy Awards are our opportunity to honor the people who make this community so vibrant and this year’s nominees remind us of the incredible talent that is driving music forward,” Mason said. “From emerging talent to influential icons, these nominees reflect today’s broad and diverse musical landscape, and I am excited to celebrate them in the coming weeks ahead.”
The ceremony will also witness several historic moments. Bad Bunny becomes the first Latin artist to receive nominations for Album, Record, and Song of the Year in the same year with his all-Spanish-language project “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” and single “DtMF.” Additionally, ROSÉ‘s collaboration with Bruno Mars, “APT.,” marks the first time a K-pop artist has received a Record of the Year nomination.
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will broadcast live on February 1, 2026, from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ Premium beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Final round voting to determine the winners will take place between December 12 and January 5.
Despite a commercially challenging year for hip-hop, Grammy voters demonstrated strong support for the genre. Beyond Lamar’s leading nominations, artists including Doechii, Clipse, and Tyler, the Creator each earned five nominations, signaling the Recording Academy’s recognition of hip-hop’s continued artistic impact and cultural relevance.
